Teens offer a big seat in Weatherly

Weatherly residents should have no trouble finding a seat in the park this summer, thanks to three high school students.

Members of Michael Ziegler's Advanced Tech-Ed class at Weatherly High School recently collaborated to build an oversized Adirondack chair for the borough.Mayor Tom Connors said he got the idea for a big chair at the park after visiting the Bloomsburg Fair.Three Weatherly students - Andrew Ray, a senior; Gary Buck, a junior; and Owen Stewart, a sophomore, made it happen.Over about three weeks, they turned lumber into a finished chair. By far the largest project the class has ever taken on, the chair almost didn't fit out of the door, Ziegler said. They got an assist from Kyle Feaster of David Feaster Excavating, who donated the lumber. The exact location for the chair hasn't been determined, but borough officials should have their mind made up by the time the chair is painted orange and black and ready to be placed.Mayor Tom Connors joked that the class should build an oversized couch for their next project.
