Hearings have been scheduled for a pair of Palmerton men caught stealing from the Rite Aid store in Palmerton.
Matthew Frederick, 23, and Shawn Reinhart, 35, both faces two counts of retail theft, and one count each of receiving stolen property, and corruption of minors.Reinhart was also charged for an incident that occurred on Jan. 29 in the 600 block of Delaware Avenue.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Adam Shimer of the Palmerton Police Department:Shimer was dispatched to the Rite Aid in Palmerton on Jan. 29 for a report of four people shoplifting.Frederick consented to a search, and police found a bottle of Gucci cologne valued at $72 was recovered.The item was among several reported to the police department as stolen, including other bottles of cologne.Shimer later went back to the Rite Aid where the store manager had an empty box matching the cologne recovered from Frederick.Frederick was later determined to have one prior conviction of retail theft on his record.Reinhart also consented to a search.Police found a bottle of Paul Sebastian Cologne, fake nail glue, woman's gel nails, AA batteries, nail polish and makeup, with a total value of $99.Frederick and Reinhard, co-defendants, are scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. March 29 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
