Fugitive from NJ caught in Tamaqua

A fugitive from New Jersey was picked up by Tamaqua police on March 1 after officers were called to the intersection of Pine and Broad streets for a fight in progress.

The caller said a man and women were arguing on the sidewalk at 1:02 a.m., when the man began pushing, then grabbing the woman. Officers found the couple on Pine Street. Both said they were arguing about living conditions: she wanted to stay in Pennsylvania; he wanted to move home to New Jersey.Their names were run through the criminal database and officers discovered a warrant for the man, Woody Justin Adams, 39, of Stewartsville.Authorities in Warren County, New Jersey, were contacted and confirmed the warrant, issued by Judge Matthew Curry after Adams failed to appear for a hearing on larceny charges.Adams was transported to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville after duty District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, set bail at $10,000 cash.He is awaiting extradition proceedings.
