Three people have been charged in connection with the drug death of a Tamaqua woman last year.
State police at Frackville said they have charged Jonathan James Seekins, 33, of Coaldale; Kyle Jacob Merenda, 22, of Barnesville; and Melanie Lynn Kropp, 24, of Mahanoy City, in the death of Alexandria Sienkiewicz, 23.Troopers said Sienkiewicz was found dead in her bedroom on April 2, 2016. The county coroner, Dr. David J. Moylan III ruled the death a homicide and said the victim died of acute fentanyl toxicity.Troopers said an investigation revealed that Seekins, Merenda and Kropp were all involved in a drug transaction that led to Sienkiewicz’s death.On Tuesday Seekins was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont, on charges of drug delivery resulting in death, criminal solicitation - delivery of controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bail set by Rossi.Kropp was also arraigned Tuesday by Rossi on charges of criminal solicitation - delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.An arrest warrant has been issued for Merenda, who is charged with drug delivery resulting in death, delivery of a controlled substance, dealing in unlawful activity, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance.Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Merenda is asked to call state police at 570-874-5300.
