It was learned that the head coaching position of the Lehighton boys basketball program will be open.

Rich Oertner has been at the helm since 2011, owning a record of 73-68 after the program had just five wins over the prior five seasons (5-85). Oertner previously coached at Northern Lehigh from 2000-2010, made the playoffs in nine of those 10 seasons, and earned a District 11 title in 2007-08.The Indians were 16-7 this year under his watch and earned a fifth-straight D11 berth.A tweet posted yesterday on the program's (@LASD_Basketball) account mentioned that offseason workouts "are on hold indefinitely". Lehighton Athletic Director Kyle Spotts wouldn't comment on the matter. Efforts to reach Oertner in time for today's publication were unsuccessful.
