Walker Twp. to interview zoning board candidates

Walker Township plans to interview several candidates who applied to fill a vacancy on its zoning hearing board.

Three candidates emerged to fill the open seat, as was announced at the township's board of supervisors meeting on Thursday.The candidates are David Bensinger, Brandon Koch and Zach Schegan, each of whom submitted their letter of intent to fill the opening.Supervisor Christine Troxell then read aloud each of the candidates' letters.After some discussion, the board agreed to meet individually with each of the candidates starting at 6:45 p.m. April 6, at the township municipal building.The board's regularly scheduled meeting will then follow at 7:30 p.m.Whoever is chosen to fill the seat will serve the remainder of Bruce Leiby's term, which will go to the end of 2019.OtherIn other action, supervisors:• Appointed to appoint Matthew Koch to the township's planning commission. Koch will serve the remainder of Leonard Ostergaard's term, which expires in December.• Granted approval to the Bensinger/Shock subdivision, pending state Department of Environmental Protection approval of septic. They are building a house on subdivided property.• Tabled the adoption of the SECV franchise agreement, which is an agreement with the cable companies that have cables running through the township. The township currently has agreements with Service Electric and Blue Ridge Cable, and both agreements are up for renewal. The township receives a franchise fee from the cable companies for using township property to run cables.• Tabled the adoption of the township's new Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance fees.• Tabled action on the 457 (b) plan, which is a deferred-compensation plan that allows employees to contribute money, as opposed to a pension plan, which generally doesn't require employee contributions.
