Defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Tuesday afternoon before Judge Joseph J. Matika in Carbon County court.

Jesse Ryan Hafer, 33, of Slatington, pleaded to one count each of persistent disorderly conduct and a summary offense of careless driving.He was arrested on Dec. 24, 2015, by Jim Thorpe police for his part in the theft of 10 lobster tails from the Jim Thorpe Market. A woman entered the store and stole the items. Hafer was driving the vehicle the pair fled in. They were stopped by borough police.Hafer is currently an inmate at the state correctional institution at Mahanoy awaiting sentencing on a state parole violation.Matika sentenced him to serve three to 12 months in the county prison, render 25 hours of community service when released on parole and must cooperate with the commonwealth in the prosecution of co-defendants in the case. On the summary offense he was fined $25.Although sentenced to a county term, he will be returned to the state prison.Thomas Edward Hettler, 38, of Parryville, pleaded to one count of disorderly conduct, as a summary offense. In exchange for the plea, the district attorney's office dropped a resisting arrest count.Hettler was arrested on Dec. 2, 2016, when state police at Lehighton responded to 222 Main St., in Parryville for a dispute between Hettler and his brother.Matika imposed a fine of $200.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
