Lehighton council

Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:

• Approved the final payment to Service Construction in the amount of $9,844 at completion of project. This marks the final payment for the completion of the interior construction work at the borough's new Light & Power Building.• Approved the GIS proposal with Jason Shellhammer, Carbon County GIS coordinator, in the amount of $6,760 for GIS mapping of the borough's electric system.• Approved the updated agreement with the Lehighton Fireman's Relief Association for the purchase of air handlers in Engine Company No. 2.• Approved the updated version of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement for its AFSCME employees, which are the borough's Public Works, Light & Power and clerical staff. There had been typographical issues in the original contract that had been approved by council.• Agreed to move forward with the Police Special Duty Assignment Contract, which will require requesters from outside the borough to submit an application and contract for special police coverage. The rates have not been calculated at this point, as the contract is in draft form and is being worked on by borough Manager Nicole Beckett, the borough police chief, and the borough solicitor.• Accepted the resignation of Maureen McTague from the borough's Parks and Recreation Board.• Agreed to advertise the Public Works 1994 Ford F800 for bid.
