Domestic incident results in arrest

A Tamaqua man was sent to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville after a domestic incident in Tamaqua on Feb. 22.

Police were called to West Cottage Avenue at 7 p.m. for a domestic in progress. The caller said Arthur A. Marrin, 24, was hitting a woman in one of the upstairs rooms. Officers were told there was possibly a weapon involved.When they arrived officers were waved down by two people, who said the victim and Marrin were still inside and there were weapons involved.When officers entered the house they met Marrin coming down the stairway. He was taken into custody without incident. As one officer handcuffed Marrin to the stair railing they continued upstairs where he found a woman holding a handgun. She put down the weapon and said she only grabbed it to defend herself after Marrin came after her with a knife.Marrin was charged with aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Rossi, of Tremont, who set bail at $40,000 straight. Marrin was unable to post bail and taken to the prison.
