Four defendants entered guilty pleas on Tuesday morning to driving under the influence charges in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:Hans H. Kuhn,39, of Dana Point, California, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, pay a fine of $300, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of driving under suspension he was fined $1,000. He was given credit for 28 days spent in an inpatient rehabilitation program and paroled.He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2016, along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police. He refused a blood test.Christopher L. Bessiere, 29, of Breinigsville, Lehigh County, was arrested on Nov. 27, 2016, by Lehighton police along First Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Bessiere can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.James Charles Marlow Jr., 49, of Slatington, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and he must render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on Nov. 25, 2015, along Route 248 at the Palmerton exit by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. March 12.David Sheperd Ogilvie Jr.,47, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and his license was suspended for a year.He was arrested on Sept. 2, 2016, along Route 248 at the Palmerton exit by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.09 BAC.He will begin the jail term at 4 p.m. March 10 and serve two days and March 17 at 4 p.m. and serve three days.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluations.
