Franz Kline returns to Lehighton Legion

Franz Kline's Lehighton will once again hang above the bar at American Legion Post 314.

A reproduction of the mural will be installed on Monday in the spot where the original mural hung for 70 years.

Last year, the painting was sold to the Allentown Art Museum. They recently unveiled it as a permanent part of their collection after restoring the work.

As part of the sale agreement, the museum agreed to create the reproduction to hang at the Legion.

According to museum spokesman Chris Potash, the new "mural" is made up of vinyl panels that will be fixed onto the wall in the exact same spot as Kline's original canvas.

The vinyl print was made from a high-resolution photo that was taken by the museum's lead preparator, Steve Gamler.

The event is open to the public. Legion Post is located on Bridge Street in the borough.
