Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Feb. 14 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 46 members in attendance. One new member, the Rev. David Shoobridge, and returning members Gloria Gerhard, Carol and Donald Deihm and Paul and Betty Kunkle were given warm welcomes.

President Bill Morrison conducted the business session. The inspirational reading "Ever there" was given by the chaplain.

Margaret Miller was added to the sick list.

The meeting included a Valentine's Day celebration, with coffee donated by Anna Mae Yushinsky and treats made by Gloria Gerhart.

Edith Varano, Eleanor Schmerfeld, Norma Lee Burke and Lorraine Benedict were congratulated on their respective birthdays, while anniversary wishes were extended to Mr. and Mrs. William Godanis.

Upcoming events include: May 4, Branson Fever at Penn's Peak; June 27, anniversary dinner at Capriotti's; Aug. 22, picnic at St. Peter's Grove, catered by Hess Catering.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville. The next meeting will be held Feb. 28, weather permitting.

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.

Soup social

The next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held onMarch 4. The social will be held from 4-6 p.m. in the social hall.

The meal is free to the public and everyone is welcome to enjoy the soup, desserts, refreshments and time with friends.

West Penn Lions

The West Penn Lions Club meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month as they work toward helping others, both locally and nationally.

Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in the West Penn Township Annex Building, located just off Route 309 on Municipal Road.

The next meeting will be held on March 1.

Calvary Evangelical

The Rev. Phillip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, a service of praise and music will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Prayer meetings are held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of Lewistown Valley. Sunday school will meet at 9:15 a.m.

Also this Sunday, CareNet bottle returns are due and pretzel orders will be distributed.

Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

The guild will meet at 7 p.m. March 2.

St. Peter's Union

Sunday worship services in St. Peter's Union Church in Mantzville are held at 9 a.m. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, Pastor Cheryl's retirement brunch will be at 10:30 a.m.; Girl and Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.

Next week's activities include: Wednesday, Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, cherub choir meets at 6:30 p.m., junior choir rehearses at 7 p.m., senior choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at this Sunday's 9:15 a.m. worship service in St. John's Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school and Confirmation classes meet at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the bell choir will rehearse at noon.

Next week, Ash Wednesday services will be held at 7 p.m.; choirs will rehearse on Thursday - angels at 6 p.m.; shepherds at 6:30 p.m.; chancel at 7:30 p.m.
