On Tuesday the Coaldale Lions Club elected Laura McElhenney as president during a reorganization meeting held at Cabrera's restaurant. McElhenney had served for several years as secretary of the organization.

Ray Swankowski will continue to serve as finance officer.The club's next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. March 14at Cabrera's restaurant. The club is seeking new members from Coaldale and Lansford. Those interested may attend the next meeting.The club will hold a flower sale at the Coaldale Fire Company on West High Street in Coaldale on April 13, 14 and 15. A wide selection of flowers and plants will be available. The fire company will be serving a Lenten fish dinner on Good Friday, April 14.With an emphasis upon assisting those in need in our communities, the Coaldale Lions Club has a priority in the area of vision. Anyone having a need for an eye examination or prescription glasses may contact President McElhenney at 570-645-2351.She will arrange an appointment with a professional and the Lions will defray the cost of the exam and glasses.
