Crampsie running for Summit Hill tax collector

Kathy Crampsiehas announced her candidacy for the office of Summit Hill tax collector. She will be seeking the Democratic nomination in the May 16 primary.

She has been a prominent face throughout the Panther Valley community for decades, during which time she has shared her musical talents in numerous ministries, primarily at St. Joseph Catholic Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.The wife of Carbon County Controller Robert M. Crampsie, Kathy is a noted soloist and guitarist.Besides starting a children's guitar group,"Kathy's Angels," she mentored scores of young boys and girlsand became aleading participant in St. Josephchoir and music ministry.At Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, Kathy provided music ministry for Friday Mass. At Panther Valley High School, she is the director for over 25 years of the annual Harmony Scholars program, which helps to raise scholarship money.Crampsie has been a longtime participant of the American Cancer Society's telethons, for which she was awarded at the Carbon-Tamaqua Unit's annual volunteer banquet.In 2015, the Panther Valley Irish-American Association honored her lifetime of service to the community by presenting to her its Shamrock Award.She is a current CCD volunteer instructor/aide for the Catholic community of the Panther Valley and is a member of the Summit Hill Lions Cluband serves as the eyeglass program coordinator.Past activities include cheerleading coach at Panther Valley High School, Our Lady of the Valley School and the Summit Hill Knee Hi Association; coach for Summit Hill Girls Softball; and volleyball coach for Our Lady of the Valley.She began employment with the Vermillion Dental Office in Summit Hill in 1979 as a part-time dental assistant and became the office manager before retiring to take care of grandchildren.The couple has four children, Colleen, wife of Gino Giantesano; Kara, wife of David Nocek; Michael and his wife, Melissa; and Meghan, wife of Daniel Blazosky. They are the grandparents of nine, Taylor, Cole, Lina, Gino, Carlin, Danika, Jack, Quinn and Marida.
