Kidder Township prepares for pipeline construction

Even though the Penn East pipeline project has not been approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Kidder Township has taken a number of steps to be prepared when construction begins.

At Thursday evening's board of supervisors' meeting, the supervisors took time to show their appreciation for the township's "river keepers."The river keepers are residents of the township who work under the guidance of the township's Environmental Advisory Council to regularly monitor the township's creeks and streams."We have been doing this twice a year for two and a half years now," said EAC vice chairman, Robert Dobash. "If we see any changes when the pipeline comes through, we will have two and a half years of data to look back on."Dobash said the creeks and streams throughout the township are all good to exceptional in quality. On Thursday evening the board also accepted a motion which will permit the township officials to work from sets of plans provided by PennEast."We will be given working plans which contain redacted information," Chairman Thomas Bradley said. "There is classified information on some of the plans and we do not have the security clearances necessary to see the information."
