Carbon County's retirement fund is off to a "pretty good start" so far this year.

On Thursday, Robert Crampsie, county controller and secretary to the retirement board, told officials that the portfolio value for the retirement fund at the end of January was $72,837,255."We added about $500,000 to the portfolio in January and that's after the disbursements of $370,000," he said.The retirement fund supports approximately 340 county retirees.Last month, Crampsie reported that 2016 was a good year in performance, netting an increase of nearly $6.5 million for the portfolio over the four quarters.- Amy Miller, reporter
