7 traffic stops result in drug, alcohol arrests

State police at Lehighton reported that seven traffic stop this month resulted in people being arrested for drugs and/or alcohol violations.

The incidents include:• A 24-year-old man was stopped while driving a 2009 BMW on Feb. 8 at 4:41 p.m. in the 1600 block of Hudson Drive (Route 93) in Packer Township. A passenger was found to have a small amount of marijuana. Charges of drug possession will be filed against him in district court.• A 22-year-old woman from Bath was stopped for a traffic violation at 1:32 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 400 block of Palmerton. After further investigation, it was determined she was driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges of DUI will be filed in district court.• A 19-year-old Bartonsville man was stopped for motor vehicle violations at 3:41 a.m. Feb. 11 on Weir Lake Road, south of Blue Ridge Road, in Ross Township. Police determined the driver was driving under the influence. He was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for a blood test. Charges are pending the blood test results.In the same stop, police said they discovered a front seat passenger in the car had marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Charges of drug possession will be filed against him.• A Saylorsburg man was stopped for traffic violations while driving an Audi A4 at 9:01 a.m. Feb. 11 at the intersection of Fireline and Forest Inn roads in Lower Towamensing Township.Police said the driver had his license suspended for a DUI conviction. Police said he also had drug paraphernalia. Charges of possession will be filed.• A 31-year-old Bangor man was stopped for code violations at 2:04 a.m. Feb. 12 at the intersection of Old Route 115 and Mountain Road in Ross Township. Police determined the driver was driving under the influence at the time and that an active warrant was out for his arrest. The man was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center to submit to a blood test and was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, to be picked up by the Northampton County Sheriff's Department for the active warrant. The DUI charges are pending the blood test results, police said.• A 38-year-old Lehighton woman was stopped for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at 3:01 a.m. Feb. 14 on Bridge Street, near First Street, in Lehighton. After further investigation, the woman was placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Police said charges will be filed pending results of her blood analysis.Police have not released the names of the suspects because they have not yet been charged.
