Former Carbon resident admits to assault incident

A former Carbon County resident admitted his part in an assault incident that occurred two years ago in Lansford.

Alexander Joseph Jimenez, 26, of Pottsville, formerly of Lansford, pleaded guilty to one count each of terroristic threats and simple assault with deadly weapon enhancement. In a second case he pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.The assault incident occurred on Sept. 28, 2014, at a Leisenring Street home. Two victims were assaultedin the incident in which there was a co-defendant.Jimenez claimed that the co-defendant in the case actually committed the assault and that he cooperated with police in the investigation. The drug count stems from an incident on Sept. 9, 2014, along East Patterson Street where police found Jimenez in possession of baggies used for heroin.On the threats and assault charges Matika placed Jimenez on probation for two years and one year probation on the drug counts, with the terms all running concurrently. Jimenez was also ordered to render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
