Fire calls in Kidder, Franklin townships Sunday

Fire companies responded to separate calls in Kidder Township and Franklin Township on Sunday.

Fire companies from two counties responded to a fire call early Sunday morning in Kidder Township. The Lake Harmony fire company was dispatched at 6 a.m. to the Pocono Resort and Convention Center along Route 940. When they arrived on scene they found smoke in the structure.According to fire Chief Ralph Lennon, it was a rooftop heating unit that malfunctioned and put some smoke into the building.The fire company stayed to air out the building. Albrightsville and White Haven fire companies also responded.Franklin TownshipThe Franklin Township Fire Company responded to 11 Main Road around 7 p.m. Sunday to a report of a fire in the multiunit two-story wood framed apartment building.Township fire Chief Lynn Diehl said it turns out there was no fire involved, but rather, it was an electrical problem in the wall.Diehl said the electricity had to be shut off at the apartment.
