Barring a second teachers strike or an abundance of snow days, the last day of school for students in Palmerton Area School District will be June 19.

The revised school calendar will be up for board approval at its next meeting on Feb. 21.“All days missed due to the first strike are added to the end of the year,” Superintendent Scot Engler said. “The rest of the calendar essentially remains unchanged.”Palmerton teachers went on strike from Jan. 9-23 and have announced they will return to the picket line on May 30 if an agreement is not reached.The existing school calendar, which can be found on the district’s website, accounts for two built-in snow makeup days on Feb. 17, during the President”s Day holiday break, and April 13, during spring break.“We would use those two snow days first and anything in addition to that will be added to the end of the year,” Engler said.
