Chestnuthill adopts well ordinance

The Chestnuthill Township board of supervisors adopted an ordinance this week to provide for the regulation and control of water wells which may be constructed, repaired or replaced within the township.

"The ordinance basically mirrors the state regulations," said township manager Dave Albright. "Our sewage enforcement officer, Helen Beers will be responsible for permits and enforcement."The fee for a well permit will be $100.Supervisors also approved the purchase of four pieces of road equipment, budgeted for 2017 and purchased from Co-Stars listed vendors.Purchased were a roller for $39,398.40, a mini-excavator with coupler for $69,141.39, a crack sealer for $47,300.00 and a trailer to haul some of the items at $8,696.72."Combined the items came in under the budgeted amount," Albright said."I commend our roadmaster for being proactive," said supervisor Chris Eckert. "By being proactive we keep ahead on road repair and we can go longer between paving."Also discussed was the change in ownership for the 715 Professional Building project. According to township solicitor Timothy McManus, the change in ownership entities means that all of the paperwork that has not yet been approved has to be changed. The township is planning on having the second meeting in February to review the changes.
