The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Feb. 2 with 45 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session. The inspirational reading "A Winter Day" was offered by the chaplain.One new member, Melody Patrick, was welcomed to the group.Members were reminded to bring a brown bag lunch during the winter months and that if conditions call for schools to be closed on a meeting day, that day's meeting will be canceled.Dues for 2017 are now being accepted.The group is open to anyone 55 or older. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays, at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Free movieZion's Stone Church of West Penn Township will host a free viewing of the movie "God's Not Dead" at 2 p.m. Sunday.The movie will be shown at the church, 45 Cemetery Road, New Ringgold.West Penn LionsThe West Penn Lions Club meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month as they work toward helping others, both locally and nationally.Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in the West Penn Township Annex Building, located just off Route 309 on Municipal Road.The next meeting will be held Feb. 15.For further information, call 570-386-2272.Bethany ECThe Rev. Phillip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley.
