A Lansford man entered guilty pleas on Friday in Carbon County court to three assault counts, including aggravated assault on a corrections officer.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted guilty pleas from Eugene Anthony Kochan, 21, to two counts of simple assault and in a fourth case, harassment, in addition to the incident with the corrections officer.Kochan was charged by Lansford police for the simple assault incidents involving his then girlfriendon Jan. 15 and Nov. 11, 2016. The assault on the prison guard occurred on Nov. 12, 2016, at the county prison in Nesquehoning. The harassment incident occurred on July 24, 2016, also involvingthe girlfriend as the victim. The charges were filed by Lansford and Nesquehoning police.Kochan is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges. Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
