Four face DUI charges

Four people are facing charges of driving under the influence as a result of traffic stops made by state police at Lehighton.

A 31-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges after she was stopped at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, on Route 209, near Anderson Drive, in Towamensing Township.A 36-year-old Schnecksville man is also facing charges. He was stopped at 11:21 p.m. Monday at Second and South streets in Jim Thorpe.Jason Johnstone of Saylorsburg was found to be under the influence after he was stopped at 2:51 a.m. Sunday on Old Route 115 in Ross Township.And a 45-year-old man from Saylorsburg was arrested for DUI after he was stopped at 2:06 a.m. Sunday in Hamilton Township.In all of the cases, police said the drivers were stopped for Motor Vehicle Code violations, and officers discovered the drivers to be DUI.In the first three incidents, drivers are suspected to have been under the influence of controlled substances, police said. They were taken for blood tests.In the stop made in Hamilton Township, police did not say whether the incident involved alcohol or a controlled substance, but said the 45-year-old was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for a blood test.Police have not named the suspects.
