Four defendants entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court in drug-related cases before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Sold to CILeonard Joseph Castiglioni, 26, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - heroin.He was arrested on March 2, 2016, following an investigation by Palmerton police and the Attorney General's office. Police set up a controlled buy using a confidential informant. Police said Castiglioni sold heroin to the CI between March 2 and 6. A total of 10 packets of heroin was sold to the CI.Sentencing was deferred.Sells out of homeCarol Lynn Scott, 42 of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of criminal use of a communication facility.State police at Hazleton vice/narcotics unit received information from a CI that Scott was selling heroin out of her home at 186 S. Second St., rear. The CI then called Scott and made arrangements for a buy. Following the controlled buy troopers made a consent search of Scott's home and found heroin, U.S. currency and various drug paraphernalia in the home.Nanovic deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Other pleasRachael Eve Crostley, 27, of Slatington, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.She was arrested by Palmerton police on April 17, 2016, in the parking lot of Hearn's Shell, 934 Delaware Ave. Police said she went to the area to buy drugs.Crostley is currently in the county prison serving a 90-day sentence for a probation violation.Nanovic sentenced her to serve 30 days to 12 months in prison, concurrent with her probation sentence, and ordered she get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.William Norman Derau, 42, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and also counts of retail theft and driving under suspension, both summaries, all stemming from an incident on Feb. 22, 2016, at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.Police observed a vehicle in the parking lot with the trunk open and individuals around it which is indicative of a retail theft incident. Derau had entered the store with a child and placed items under the child's shirt and exited the store. He then got into his vehicle, which was the one that had the trunk open, and left. Police stopped him a short time later after receiving the theft report and had been watching the vehicle in question.Police also found heroin in the vehicle along with two passengers. One of the passengers was also charged in the incident.Nanovic placed Derau on probation for a year on the drug count and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.On the retail theft charge he was fined $200 and on the suspension count a fine of $200. He must also make restitution to Walmart for $49.35.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
