Anti-drug groups set leader training

The groups working on ways to deal with the ongoing increase in opiate/drug addiction problems in the area will sponsor a leadership training workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 25.

The workshop will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua.Training will be provided by the Pennsylvania Recovery Organizations Alliance (Pro-A), made possible by a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the Department of Health and Human Services.Sponsors include the Stepping Stones Recovery Foundation, STEP-Up Tamaqua, Safer Streets for Tamaqua's Little Feet and the Skook Recovers. STEP-Up Tamaqua is a Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network project.Robert Bedford of the Stepping Stones Foundation said, "The purpose of the training is leadership and advocacy for change in laws and attitudes that prevent recovery houses from existing in all communities."Registration is free.
