Several people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Friday in Carbon County court by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Cory Scott Coons, 29, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced on two DUI charges.He was arrested on March 21, 2015, along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police, and on the second count on Feb. 20, 2016, by state police at Fern Ridge. Tests revealed the presence of a controlled substance.On the 2016 case he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On the second DUI he was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in jail, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and another 100 hours of community service. The jail terms run concurrently.He was given credit for five days spent in prison on the charges and will begin the jail term on Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.David John Kiddish Jr., 23, of Weatherly, was arrested on May 14, 2016, along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.He was sentenced to serve 90 days to two years in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 100 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. Feb. 27.Joshua W. Leslie, 23, of Lehighton, was sentenced on two DUI charges. He was arrested on July 19, 2013, along Pohopoco Drive in Franklin Township, by state police at Lehighton; and on the second count on July 7, 2015, by Mahoning Township police. In both cases a test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. Leslie was previously placed into the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on the 2013 charge but revoked for violating conditions.On the 2013 count he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. On the 2015 count he was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in jail, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and an additional 100 hours of community service. The prison terms run concurrent.He is currently an inmate in the county prison and was given credit for 94 days and paroled.Louise Ann Smith, 51, of Weissport, was arrested on May 29, 2016, by state police at Lehighton.She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Jasmine Marie Yaich, 31, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Jan. 9, 2016, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was sentenced to serve 30 days in prison followed by 59 months in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. She was ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and render a total of 100 hours of community service when release on parole.She will being the jail term on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
