Northwestern was well aware of how good a team Saucon Valley had this season.

Back on Jan. 4, the Panthers visited the Tigers and came away with a decisive win.Monday night in the Colonial League Tournament, Northwestern and Saucon Valley had a semifinal rematch.The result was almost identical.Saucon Valley, the top seed and undefeated in the league this season, rolled to a 66-7 victory, which propelled it into the finals against Bangor.Saucon went on to defeat the Slaters, 47-17, and claim the league title.Against Northwestern, the score didn't indicate how tough some of the bouts actually were. Despite forfeiting four matches, Northwestern represented well against the highly-touted Panthers and challenged them in nearly every contested match.Caleb Clymer proved to be the sole victor for the Tigers as he made quick work of Zach Petrucelli in the 160-pound match.Northwestern coach Tom Moll reflected with pride on how his team battled."The match kind of went the way I expected," he said. "I mean, we knew there were a lot of toss-up matches, that could've gone our way. I thought (Bailey) Wehr and (Josh) Jones would be a good match, Colin (Rex) at 132 was another good one."But they're a really tough team and they just ended up winning all of those matches I thought we had a shot at."After a forfeit at 106, Nick Rosengrant and Harrison Bernhard took to the mat and it proved to be a spotlight match, as the two were nip and tuck the entire way before the Panther nabbed a 2-1 decision."This was Nick's first match back in almost a month," Saucon Valley head coach Chad Shirk said post-match. "I thought he really stepped up and wrestled a good one for us."The 120 match between Jones and Wehr was next. The two refused to yield a point through four grueling minutes of mat time. However, Jones notched six unanswered points in the third frame to take the decision."I thought Jones was so tough to come back and score six points in that third period so that was good, especially over a high quality opponent," Shirk said.The Panthers' Paul Miller flattened shoulders at 126, before Colin Rex and Justin Kyra squared off at 132.A scoreless first gave way to Rex grabbing a 2-1 lead after two, thanks to a reversal. However, Kyra countered with his own to take a 3-2 edge, before Rex escaped to tie it at three. A late Kyra takedown gave the Panther the 5-4 decision making the team score 27-0."This one was similar to the last time we wrestled them," Moll said. "This happens, and then that happens, and the score gets out of hand. I'm happy with the way the guys wrestled, so I can't be upset with their effort. We wrestled hard tonight."A major decision and a pin swelled the deficit to 37-0, before Clymer took the floor.The Tiger star built a 4-0 lead before earning his team's first points as he pinned Petrucelli in 1:25.A pair of pins quickly stifled any potential momentum the Tigers may have built as Saucon Valley won going away.UP NEXT ...
