Slatington man threatens to kill his ex-wife and her boyfriend

A Slatington area man is in custody after threatening to kill his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

William L. Hartmaier, 66, faces two counts each of terroristic threats and simple assault and one count of harassment.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Derrick Cargill of Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M Bethlehem Patrol Unit:At 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Cargill was dispatched to the area of9000 Furnace Road in Washington Township for a report of a domestic.He spoke with the victims,who said they went to the address to speak with the woman's ex-husband, Hartmaier, about repairs to the residence.The ex-wife said that while speaking with Hartmaier, they got into an argumentand he pushed her.She then walked outside of the residence, and with her cellphone began to take pictures of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.The victim said that while taking pictures, Hartmaier came outside and grabbed her arm, attempting to take her cellphone away from her.The victim's boyfriend said that he was trying to defuse the situation before it got out of hand, and Hartmaier became angry and said, "I'm going to (expletive) kill you," to the pair.After Hartmaier made those statements, the victims got into their vehicle and attempted to leave.At that time, Hartmaier exited the residence with a rifle.Hartmaier was sent to Lehigh County Jail under $15,000 straight bail.His preliminary hearing is set for 1:45 p.m. Jan. 31, at Lehigh Central Court.
