Car strikes deer, driver is uninjured

A 17-year-old boy from Ringtown escaped injuries when a car he was driving struck a deer in the roadway on Ringtown Boulevard, Union Township, at 5:50 p.m. Jan. 17.

State police at the Frackville said the 2009 Ford Focus was towed from the scene after it struck the deer.Troopers also reported investigating a truck crash at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday along Route 61, south of the Schuylkill Mall in Blythe Township.Troopers said Omar Jimenez-Diaz, 24, of Hazleton, was driving a 2011 Kenworth tractor with trailer southbound and lost control while traveling through a sharp curve due to icy conditions. The truck overturned onto the driver's side and came to rest in the left lane against guide rails.Jimenez-Diaz was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus for treatment of minor injuries.
