The Tamaqua Area Faith and Fellowship Network, STEP-Up Tamaqua, the Tamaqua Ministerial Association and Safer Streets for Tamaqua's Little Feet are combining forces for a special ecumenical service in honor of National Day of Remembrance on Jan. 29."Forever In Our Hearts," a community event, will begin at 7 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 223 E. The chaplain provided the inspirational reading "A New Beginning."Doris Yeager and Barbara Gallagher were added to the sick list. Several members were welcomed back, including Jane McLaughlin, Pat Brown and Jane Tarter.Members were reminded to bring a brown bag lunch during the winter months and that if conditions call for schools to be closed on a meeting day, that day's meeting will be canceled.Dues for 2017 are now being accepted.The group is open to anyone 55 or older. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays, at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Christmas treesThe Borough of Tamaqua's Street Department will be collecting discarded Christmas trees throughout this month. Residents are to place their real trees curbside on their regular trash collection days. Trees will be collected as time and weather permit.Trees must be free of all tinsel and decorations. Residents are also asked to remove any bags that may have been used. Trees may also be dropped off behind the Tamaqua Borough Garage. No trees will be collected after Jan. 31.Bethany ECThe Rev.
