A Tamaqua man is back in jail after a Schuylkill County judge dissolved a bench warrant against him.
Dennis W. Helfrich, 44, must now serve his sentence, Judge James P. Goodman ruled.Helfrich was charged by Rush Township police with retail theft and receiving stolen merchandise on Dec. 3, 2015.Helfrich pleaded guilty to retail theft on Oct. 25; the receiving charge was dropped. Judge John J. Domalakes sentenced him to six to 23 months in jail.Indiana man found guiltyJudge D. Michael Stine foundJustin E. Saylor, 32, of Peru, Indiana, guilty of indirect criminal contempt and sentenced him to pay costs and a $300 fine.West Penn Township police on Nov. 29 charged Saylor with violating the protection from abuse order against him.Guilty pleasJordon M. Tessitore, 24, of Lansford, was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.The delivery charge was dropped.Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced Tessitore to time served to 18 months in jail with immediate parole and 12 months on probation.John W. Welfel Jr., 24, of Coaldale, was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of drug paraphernalia and one each of false identification to law enforcement, driving under suspension and retail theft.Charges of improper turning movements and receiving stolen property were dropped.Miller sentenced Welfel to time served to 12 months in jail with immediate parole and 12 months on probation. He also fined him $200.Miller also revoked the probation ofSarah Hill, 28, of Tamaqua.She was charged by Tamaqua police with possession of drug paraphernalia on July 3, 2014.Miller sentenced Hill to two to 12 months in jail. She was also ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.Hill pleaded guilty on Aug. 17 to possession of drug paraphernalia.A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped.Miller sentenced her to 12 months on probation.
