The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has released an online video to help drivers in the commonwealth to learn how to better understand the nuances of driving roundabouts. The video is available on the PennDOT website, as well as on the PennDOT YouTube channel.

"Data shows that modern-day roundabouts reduce crash severity and injuries while improving traffic flow," said PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards. "This video illustrates how to navigate these intersections regardless of how you travel."According to PennDOT, there are currently 32 completed roundabouts in operation in Pennsylvania. There are 20 roundabouts currently under construction and 10 more that are expected to go into construction within the next few years.Two of those presently in the design phase will be located in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The project known as the Routes 209/115 Realignment is expected to go out for bid in the later part of 2018 with the bids to be let in December 2018.The project will include widening of both 209 and 115, restructuring of the traffic lights and patterns, driveway realignments and turning lanes. There will be a roundabout in front of Pleasant Valley High School and another, larger circle at the point where routes 209 and 115 intersect."The construction will most likely start in the spring of 2019," said Sean Brown of the PennDOT Press Office. "There are multiple parts to this project, some of which will go on simultaneously, but we won't know the actual schedule or how long it will take to complete until after the contractor is on board."To find out additional information on roundabouts, go to
