Slatington Borough Council authorized Councilman Byron Reed to research cheaper electricity rates for the municipality.

Reed said Liberty Power charges 6.4 cents per unit."I spent last week on the phone with people about this," he said.Reed said his calls led to a different provider quoting a rate of 5.3 cents per unit for a three-year term."I vote we allow Bryon to lock us in anywhere under 6 cents for a three- to six-year term," Joe Wechsler said.Council agreed and Reed will begin the search this week to save the community money.
