Pleasant Valley seeks superintendent

The Pleasant Valley School Board recently approved a resolution to obtain assistance from Pennsylvania School Board Association with its search for a new superintendent.

Current Superintendent Carole Geary will be retiring as of July 31.The resolution sets a fee not to exceed $5,000 for the services provided by PSBA in the search. The district has also approved a memorandum of understanding with the Pleasant Valley Education Association to once again offer a conditional retirement incentive. The agreement is permitted by the collective bargaining agreement.Last year, the agreement set the minimum number of retirees at eight for the severance package to be offered. According to the district there are "18 or 19" professionals who took advantage of the offer. This year, the minimum has been set at 10.In "good news," Pleasant Valley Elementary Assistant Principal Roger Pomposello took a few minutes to publicly thank Monroe County resident Brian Winot of East Site Contractors for paying off all of the outstanding lunch vouchers for students in Monroe County schools during the holiday season."This was a very generous thing that he did," Pomposello said. "I know that the PVE families really appreciated it. I only wish he were here so we could thank him personally."
