Peaceful Knights holds fundraiser winter brunch

Peaceful Knights is kicking off the new year with the Winter Warmth Brunch fundraiser that will be held on Saturday.

The brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dean Anthony Banquet Hall in Jim Thorpe. Discounted tickets are available for children aged 6 to 12.The menu will include lemon pepper chicken, roasted potatoes, egg, sausage and cheese open-faced English muffins, hot veggies, Caeser salad, and more.Attendees can partake in a basket raffle and enjoy the sounds of Cerulean Hills as they sip mimosas, with proceeds from the event going toward the continuation of Peaceful Knights and its goal of helping the homeless community."There are many homeless people in the county, and there are only two shelters," director Scott Lakatos said. "In the winter time, things become a lot more expensive for the shelter. Donations go down, we have to pay for coal and electricity. Peaceful Knights has been around for 10 years, and we'd like to be around for 20 or more. Hopefully, people will understand that we need larger outreach, larger donations to keep this going, to help the homeless."In case of inclement weather, Jan. 28 will serve as a snow date.Tickets for the event can be purchased at Peaceful Knights in Lehighton, or from the noted people at the following locations:• Blue Mountain Community Church, Palmerton, Scott Lakatos• Castle Gate Realty, Lehighton, Aggie Shehadeh• Andreas Plumbing & Heating, Lehighton, Steve Mundinnger• Kochs Appliances, Lehighton, Kevin Koch• Lehighton Bible Church, Lehighton, Steve Mundinger• Bethany Wesleyan, Cherryville, Larry Liggitt• The Mortgage Company, Allentown, Larry Ahner
