State police at Lehighton said a 50-year-old Effort man is facing charges of causing or risking a catastrophe after a hit-and-run crash at about 12:39 a.m. Saturday at on Route 209 in Brodheadsville.
Police said the man was driving a vehicle that entered a Sunoco gas station at a high rate of speed, crashing into the Sunoco sign and a wooden shed. The crash occurred only a few feet away from two customers who were at the gas pumps in the station lot.Police did not release the man's name.
