The Tamaqua Ministerial Association and Safer Streets for Tamaqua's Little Feet are combining forces for a special ecumenical service in honor of National Day of Remembrance on Jan. 29.
The community event will begin at 7 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 223 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.National Day of Remembrance was initiated by the Addiction Policy Forum Families Committee as a time to honor and mourn those lives lost to addiction while offering support to their families.More than 100 people die daily from drug overdoses, leaving behind devastated families. Organizers are hoping such community events will demonstrate strong support for these families by joining hands and honoring their loss with a candle lighting ceremony, prayers and a moment of silence.Participants are welcome to include photos of their loved ones by calling 570-527-9278 or emailing
