Local church congregations will be hosting an Epiphany service tonight in honor of those lost to the fight against addiction.

The service will feature prayers, music, and an opportunity to share stories concerning addiction."We are holding this service simply because there's a lot of people suffering in silence due to the heroin and opioid crisis," the Rev. Michel McGowan said."We want to offer them some light in their life."When attendees enter the service, they will be presented with a paper snowflake, which they will label with the name of a lost loved one or someone they may know who is struggling with addiction. The stars will be hoisted up to the church's sanctuary during the service.Anyone at the service will also have an opportunity to speak about a loved one or to light a candle in remembrance of them.The event will take place at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Lehighton, 222 Church St."Epiphany, in the church, is a celebration of light," Rev. McGowan said. "Even if it may seem dark, there is hope to be found."
