Pleasant Valley High School's Leo Club collected six pickup loads of canned and dry foods, water and miscellaneous items for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network during the fall months.Saturday gamesStarting Saturday, the Western Pocono Community Library will have a variety of board games available for adults and children to play from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. every Saturday in the library.Sunday supperA free Sunday supper will be served at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Route 209 from 3-4 p.m.Ongoing needsThe Garden of Giving is always in need of volunteers to help in the office and garden, as well as donations of skills, supplies and funding to purchase what is needed for the garden and chickens. The Block Party program offers many benefits including open-ended play, free expression, collaboration and teamwork, and it increases the use of fine and large motor skills. When building, children are engaging in dramatic play and increasing their language and vocabulary skills.All Sports ClubPleasant Valley's All Sports Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library.Two fundraisersEffort UMC is holding two fundraisers to benefit the 2017 REACH mission trip to Tennessee and to benefit the church's Connectional Ministries of the church.The first is the youth selling homemade stromboli. The deadline for ordering is Jan. 22. The pickup date isFeb 5.The second is homemade chili made by member Bob Decker.
