The Woman's Club of Slatington has announced that Northern Lehigh High School senior Kiera Shellhammer of Slatington has been chosen as Girl of the Month for January. Kiera is the daughter of Lisa Shellhammer and Richard Shellhammer. She has two older brothers, Cody and Tyler, and an English springer spaniel named Lexie. Her activities include soccer for 12 years, serving as captain for one year; National Honor Society, where she holds the treasurer position; and student council representative for four years.

Kiera has also been a member of SADD for two years and participates in theater and the spring musical.She is currently enrolled in a dual enrollment program through LCCC and LCTI, called the Emerging Health Program and serves as the vice president in the Health Occupations Students of America chapter there.In her spare time, Kiera teaches religious songs to children from preschool to sixth grade at St. John's Lutheran Church in Slatington.She plans to attend college for nursing to become a pediatric oncology nurse.
