New Year's celebrations planned

Looking for something fun to do on New Year's Eve?

If you want to celebrate the holiday in style and go out for a night on the town, you can't go wrong with either The Mansion House in Summit Hill or Blue Shamrock Golf Club in Palmerton. The Mansion House will start off the evening with a special dinner menu between 4 and 9 p.m., featuring lobster tail, filet mignon and prime rib. Following dinner, a free snack table will be open until midnight, and guests can revel in the entertainment and atmosphere leading up to the midnight countdown"We'll have free music provided by Tom Storm, hats and noisemakers, and a Champagne toast," general manager Pat Cleary said. For an extra classy celebration, look no further than Blue Shamrock Golf Club in Palmerton. The club will be hosting an upscale gala featuring the Sunshine Symphony, a five-course meal, and an open bar.According to owner Tim Nagle, the night should be a nice combination of the tux-and-evening-gown affair with a touch of cheeky nostalgic fun, with excellent food and drinks to boot."We have a beautiful venue, and the band's really great - they'll play mostly '80s, '90s, a little bit of everything," Nagle said. "The food, especially the lobster and filet mignon, is fantastic."
