The Weissport Borough Council met on Monday night to discuss the tax rates for 2017, electing a temporary code enforcement officer and discussing candidates for a new solicitor.
The council voted to keep tax rates the same in 2017.Duane Dellecker, the previous code enforcement officer, needs recertification. Arland Moyer Sr. elected Paul Jarrad as a temporary enforcement officer until Dellecker can be recertified. The movement was passed.Michael Greek, the current solicitor for the borough, will be leaving, effective Dec. 31, 2016. The Weissport Borough Council discussed new candidates for 2017, including Vincent Garvey from the Law Office of Vincent Garvey in Lehighton. He wrote correspondence in regards to the vacancy.In other business:• Drainage on Bridge Street is very bad. The council is looking to meet with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Doyle Heffley to discuss options to fix the issue.• The 2014 audit is complete. They are waiting on quarterly tax forms from 2015 to complete the audit.
