Concourse Club Guiding Star chosen

Each year, the Concourse Club of Palmerton honors five Guiding Stars from the Palmerton Area Senior High School.

The Guiding Stars are chosen by a committee of high school educators in the district.A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class and be involved in both school and community activities.Each Guiding Star receives a certificate, an engraved Guiding Star charm, and a $100 cash award.Lauren Michelle Fegely was selected as the Guiding Star for November, and was recognized at the Concourse Club meeting on Nov. 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church.She is the daughter of Rebecca and Kevin Fegely, and has a sister, Elisa.Lauren's guests at the meeting included her parents, sister and grandparents.Her hobbies include singing, dancing, reading, watching movies and spending time with friends and family.Lauren's school activities include Future Business Leaders of America, Mock Trial, National Honor Society, Scholastic Scrimmage, Oratory Club, Environmental Club, cheerleading and she is a soccer manager.Outside of school, she is a volunteer at the Palmerton Library, and also volunteered at the Village at Palmerton.Lauren was a first-place winner in the Carbon County Oratory Competition, and took third place in computer fair, third and fourth places in Envirothon, and is a two-time FBLA state attendee.She was named as a four-time All-American cheerleader, 2016 homecoming queen, FBLA most active member and FBLA most community service, and was chosen as a speaker at Palmerton's Memorial Day Service.In addition, Lauren's accomplishments also include first place at the Carbon County Scholastic Scrimmage competition, third place at the CLIU Scholastic Scrimmage, second and third place in the Catasauqua cheerleading competition, and first place in the Wilson cheerleading competition.Lauren's future plans include attending a four-year university to major in secondary English education.

Fegely
