Care Net, families celebrate Christmas

Care Net of Carbon County held its annual Christmas party on Sunday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church.

The Christmas party was full of families and volunteers looking to celebrate Jesus' birthday."It's a chance to give clients more love than we already feel for them," said Suzanne DeMara, the director of Care Net of Carbon County. The children were given Christmas gifts, the story of Christmas was told and food was available. Many volunteers were there helping with the event. Everything at the event was donated. The volunteers baked, cooked and organized the entire event for Sunday.A group sang Christmas songs before children heard the story of Christmas. Afterward, everybody sang happy birthday to Jesus. Many of the attendees have been helped by Care Net. The Galloway family went to Care Net to take classes on how to get closer with their children.Care Net is working on a sister location in Nesquehoning. The group is hoping to take clients in mid-January of 2017.Anybody interested in volunteering for Care Net can visit the offices at 531 Mahoning St., Lehighton, or call 610-379-0411.
