Man sentenced on drug charges, receives parole

A Northampton man who admitted to drug related charges was sentenced to Schuylkill County Prison, but immediately paroled.

Thomas Dennington, 34, of Northampton, was charged by Tamaqua police with two counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; criminal use of a communication facility; and having a controlled substance he was not authorized to have on Sept. 4, 2013.In a second case, he was charged, again by Tamaqua police, with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; criminal use of communication facility, and having a controlled substance he was not authorized to have on Aug. 22, 2013.In both cases, Dennington pleaded guilty to criminal use of communication facility. The other charges were dropped.In both cases, Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced Dennington to six to 23 months in jail, with immediate parole, and to pay court costs and fees. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
