Casey James Steffanic of Pine Grove was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks were summoned to investigate a domestic dispute between an engaged couple at 2:45 a.m. Dec. 4on Second Mountain Road in Wayne Township.

Police said he was released on $25,000 unsecured bail set by District Magistrate Christina Hale.Police said the dispute was both verbal and physical, during which time Steffanic allegedly hit the victim, a 36-year-old Pine Grove woman. Police said he struck her multiple times, resulting in visible injuries to her face. The woman needed to be transported via ambulance to an area hospital for medical attention.
