Lehighton state police - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on several crashesin recent days.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:37 p.m. on Sunday along Hatchery Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.Troopers said Katherine B. Franco, 33, of Easton, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound when her vehicle began to fishtail on the snow-covered road. Franco lost controland collided head-on into a tree.Franco and passengers Alexyss Williams, 18, and two juveniles, ages 3 and 1, all of Easton, were not injured. The Cobalt had to be towed from the scene.• A one-vehicle occurred at 1:22 p.m. Dec. 8 along Flyte Road in Ross Township, Monroe County.Troopers said Philip Ruvolo, 70, of Effort, was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu southbound and approaching Anchorage Road when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve. The car crossed the double yellow line and onto the opposing shoulder.Ruvolo attempted to counter steer and traveled back across both lanes andstruck a tree with the driver's side door. After impact the Malibu rotated counterclockwiseand came to rest facing south.Ruvolo was checked at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. The Malibu was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Ruvolo for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.• Another one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:19 p.m. Thursdayalong Kunkletown Road in Ross Township.Lisa M. Pazienza, 23, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2000 Nissan Sentra eastbound when she lost control and crashed into a drainage ditch along the berm. Pazienza and her passenger, James L. Manning, 26, of East Stroudsburg, were injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. The Nissan had to be towed.Troopers cited Pazienza for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.• Troopers investigated a two-vehicle crashat 10:31 a.m. Wednesday along Route 209 (Interchange Road), in Franklin Township, Carbon County.Troopers said John G. Fitzgerald, 74, of Brodheadsville, was southbound when his 2001 Lincoln Continental crossed the double yellow line and collided into a 2010 Isuzu box truck driven by James E. Alston, 51, of Upper Darby, Delaware County. No one was injured. Troopers cited Fitzgerald for the crash.• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:18

a.m.Wednesday at the intersection of Pohopoco Drive and Pine Run Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Julia J. Dougherty, 43, of Kunkletown, was westbound on Pohopoco Drive and Erika L. Egan, 32, of Lehighton, was southbound on Pine Run Road. Egan stopped for astop sign when her 2004 Lincoln Aviator was struck by Dougherty's 2008 Nissan Rogue. No one was injured.Troopers cited Dougherty for the crash.• Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crashat 6:34 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 320 Troxell Road in Mahoning Township, Carbon County.Martha Malick, 74, of Lehighton, was driving a 2001 GMC Terrain southbound when she struck a patch of ice on the road. Malick lost control of her vehicleand struck a tree head-on.Malick was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, for treatment of moderate injuries. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Mahoning Township Fire Company volunteers and the Lehighton EMS unit personnel.• A one-vehicle crash was reported along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township at 7:41 a.m. Dec. 3.Willard G. Dreisbach, 72, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu northbound when he struck a deer. Dreisbach was not injured but his vehicle sustained major front-end damage and was towed from the scene.
