Couple arrested for drug dealing

A Nesquehoning man and woman are in custody for their involvement in dealing drugs in the Lansford/Nesquehoning area.

Romero McLain, 30, and Nicole Raposo, 32, both of 201 W. Ridge St., were arraigned before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton on Sunday after being arrested over the weekend by Pennsylvania State Police, Lansford Police Department's Facebook page states.Both face four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance; three counts of criminal conspiracy, engaging; three counts of prohibited acts, penalties; and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Nesquehoning Police patrolman Richard Neikam and Lansford Police investigator Charles Horvath, the pair had been wanted on drug dealing charges since September.On Sept. 9, Horvath executed a search warrant at their residence.Items that were seized include an orange Nike backpack that contained two knotted plastic bags of suspected cocaine (about 20 grams in-package weight); one knotted, plastic bag of suspected crack cocaine (about 9g); one knotted plastic bag of suspected heroin (about 8g); aplastic bag containing a small amount of suspected cocaine, and a small bag of suspected heroin, along with two plastic bags containing suspected marijuana (about 65g); a cardboard box containing dozens of new glassine bags commonly used to package individual doses of heroin; packaging material, including several plastic bags with residue; an LP-100 digital scale with residue;various pills including two different forms of oxycodone; three plastic straws with residue; pieces of mail for both McLain and Raposo; and $7,092 in cash.Horvath conductedfield testsand obtained positive reactions for the drugs.Both are scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 21 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.They are currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail each.
