The Pocono Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club recently celebrated its 45th anniversary with a holiday party with 41 in attendance at the East Penn Sporting Club.

The club formed in 1971 at the Hotel Jonas with 350 members. Four charter members, Richard Ahner, Dennis Blocker, Chester Bredbenner and Richard German, attended.Over the years, the club supported many local charities, groomed snowmobile trails in the Poconos, hosted grass drags, provided assistance in snow emergencies, and provided automobile safety courses for kids ages 10-15.In memory of the club forming at the Hotel Jonas, a donation of $450 will be made to the Valor House for veterans, which is being operated at the site of the former hotel and restaurant.Members also collected canned goods to be donated to the Lehighton food pantry.Anyone interested in snowmobile membership may contact Blocker at 484-225-5561.
